Auckland University of Technology
Arion Solutions Division is a department of Auckland University of Technology (AUT) which was set up to develop and support the University’s Microsoft based Student Administration software, used both by AUT and a number of other New Zealand Tertiary Institutes.

A Business Mechanix team member was originally contracted to manage the move from outsourcing to in-sourcing of the software support function.  The consulting engagement covered advice on closing off the contract with the outsource company, advising customers of the move to in-sourcing, creating new contracts for the customers, business process review on the support services provided by the outsourcer and eventually the creation of a new internal support function to Arion Solutions Division.  The role included engaging contractors to supply the initial software support services and eventually recruiting a permanent team to perform the function long-term.  After the function was in-sourced, Business Mechanix’s role was to manage the support and maintenance function for the customers and bed down the processes and team over a 12 month period.

Our team member continues to consult to Arion Solutions Division in a Project Managing role.  Projects include Release Management, Internal Infrastructure & Environments and Configuration Management following ITIL Best Practice methodologies.
